About Me

My husband doesn't see me much anymore, even though we are both retired, but he knows where to find me. When our last child moved out of the house, she left behind a large empty room downstairs. It has been repurposed and is now referred to as My Happy Place. This is where I hang out, where I can work on a project, spend time on the computer, hang out with my cats, or all of the above. I am recently discovering my creative self. It began slowly, a couple of years ago, when a Mainer friend of mine introduced me to the art of making fairy houses. I began to collect enough fairy house supplies from the woods during the summer to keep myself busy year-round. I would stuff bags of pine cones, lichens, birch bark, twigs, rocks, and other interesting items into the car for our return trip home at the end of the summer. It's not easy to fit my supplies in the car when you travel with four cats and two Siberian huskies, but somehow we do it. Anyway, that's how my creative self got started. Then, I discovered Annie Sloan's chalk paint. I painted a few pieces of furniture with the stuff and now I'm hooked. I love the fact that you don't have to strip off old finishes - you just paint right over them! No sanding and stripping for me. My arthritic hands can't take it. I like easy projects. A few weeks ago my oldest daughter introduced me to Pinterest. Well, that did it! Now I'm addicted to Pinterest! There are so many great ideas out there and all these wonderfully creative people are sharing them. I'm repinning stuff and saying to myself, "I can do that." Pinterest is where I found the Graphics Fairy. Karen, do you know how many nights I stay up way past my bedtime looking through your graphics?! You are amazing. The next thing I know, I'm making my own blog page. I'm new at this, but I've gotten this far, so there's no turning back now. I hope I can bring joy to others by sharing, as they have brought joy to me.
